Is the Traffic on Bridgeway All Adam Sandler's Fault?

Adam Sandler & Seth Rogen want to make you late picking up the kids!

OK, we know that's not fair but it just feels so good to write ridiculous tabloid headlines!

Kidding aside, here's the word about this week's traffic problems caused by a movie shooting on Bridgeway.  Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen are indeed here in Sausalito shooting a film.  They have been (oh, no!) really nice to people who've been coming up to them on the street -- check out the comments box at the bottom of this post for more eyewitness details.

The timing suggests the movie may be "Funny People" although IMDB lists it as already being in post-production.

The best scoop we've seen was reported to Marin filmmaker and guitar teacher Keith Moore by his brother Jamison.  It comes complete with the obligatory Rude Assistant Director moment, but Jamison has added more details in a comment below to give the story context.

Also on the web: A clean-shaven Rogen sighting, which apparently required four hours of stalking before a frontal attack in Starbucks on Princess St.

Two visitors who came through Sausalito on a three-month around-the-world trip (wow...) very matter-of-factly reported seeing Sandler and Rogen,  I guess if you're on a three-month around-the-world trip seeing movie stars in the street is all just part of the experience.

When Jamison Moore (who got yelled at for no reason by the assistant director) gets invited to the movie's premiere we're all gonna be so jealous!

Rustico Has Closed

Rustico Has Closed

We are sorry to report that Caledonia St. restaurant Rustico has closed.  The hopeful note of "We'll be back in a few days" has now been replaced by a sign that misspells Caledonia St. and says the building is for lease.

This building previously housed the popular Gatsby's and later Treviso.  Rustico now joins them on our list of closed Sausalito restaurants.

Even in Sausalito -- or perhaps especially here -- running a restaurant against such strong entrenched competitors is a very hard job.

Last Chance to Swap Ferry Ticket Books Jan. 21

LAST CHANCE TO SWAP FERRY DISCOUNT BOOKS IS JAN. 21

Commuters Must Switch to TransLink to Receive Discounts -- Tickets no longer valid after Jan. 31, 2009

Last Chance!  Free TransLink cards will be distributed to customers with Frequent Ferry Rider discount ticket books at the San Francisco Ferry Terminal, from 3pm to 7pm on Wednesday, January 21.

Late last year the Golden Gate Bridge Board of Directors voted to eliminate the “Frequent Ferry Rider” discount ticket books, and to transition to TransLink® smartcards as the method for buying discount tickets.  They approved a 31-day grace period following the end of the year for us all to use any remaining Frequent Ferry Rider tickets.

Can you hear the sound of us rummaging in purses and briefcases to see how much money we have tied up in a whole new kind of "worthless paper?"

Translink has been in use as a discount method on the Sausalito Ferry to San Francisco since September 2007.  About 25% of all ferry customers now use TransLink.

Also, Commuter Check recently launched an “e-voucher” solution, now making it easier for customers to apply tax-free benefits electronically from an employer directly to a TransLink card.  Golden Gate Transit buses also accept TransLink.

Ferry Fares:  Sausalito Ferry adult cash fare is $7.45 and TransLink (and Frequent Rider Ticket) fare is $4.00 or a $3.45 discount off the adult cash fare or a discount of 46%.

Free TransLink cards will be distributed to customers with Frequent Ferry Rider discount ticket books at the San Francisco Ferry Terminal, from 3pm to 7pm on:

Thursday, January 8
Wednesday, January 21

The District website has more information about the transition.

SAUSALITO SEEKING APPLICATIONS FOR DISASTER PREPAREDNESS COMMITTEE

Looking for a way to respond to President Obama's call for a spirit of National Service?  The City of Sausalito has an opportunity.  Here's the text from the City's announcement:

"The City is accepting applications from persons interested in being considered for appointment by the City Council to the Disaster Preparedness Committee. Anyone interested in being considered for the next round of interviews and appointments should submit a completed application within the next 30 days (by mid-February).

"The purpose of the Disaster Preparedness Committee is to review and recommend changes to the City's Disaster Plan and to provide recommendations to the City Council on disaster preparedness programs. The Disaster Committee actively promotes public education and encourages participation in disaster preparedness training and activities. Each term is two years in length, and the Committee meets monthly or as needed.

"The application form may be obtained by sending your request to Debbie Pagliaro at dpagliaro (at) ci.sausalito.ca.us or by stopping by the Administration Office at City Hall at 420 Litho Street Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm."

Further information on the Committee can be found here on the City website.

Note: We change the format of email addresses on notices like this to prevent spammers' "robots" from stealing them off the net and stuffing the mailboxes with spam.  If you put the "@" character where we wrote "(at)" and leave no blank spaces you'll have the correct email address.

Comments on Wolfback Ridge Wireless Tower Proposal Due by Jan. 15

A Qualcomm subsidiary is proposing to the County and to the City of Sausalito that they be allowed to install a 14-foot wireless broadcast antenna on an existing tower on Wolfback Ridge.

The antenna would be mounted 80 feet up on an existing 100-foot tower, along with other smaller items and additional upgrades inside an existing building nearby.  The company says that the project complies with FCC standards for radio emissions.

The tower is located at 200 Sundial Road in Sausalito.  The City has asked that people who have questions or concerns call county planner Neal Osborne before Thursday Jan. 15 at 499-6269.

When we went to link to that address in Google Maps it does not show up in either Sausalito or Marin County.  If anyone can enlighten us on the location please post a comment below.

If you like conspiracy theories: when we typed in that address, Internet Explorer crashed and had to be restarted!
